If you write about…
The following is a list of journals that are great for those of us who are writing on such underused subjects as giant creatures and android love. Because all of us can’t get into the New Yorker or Glimmer Train. Plus I think they frown on android love. Take a look and see if one of your stories fits in anywhere. If not, why not take a stab at one of these genres within a genre.
Talking animals:
Anthropolations
http://www.sofawolf.com/
“Submission of werewolf (and other were-critters) and monster stories IS welcome, but they must be a cut above the typical for any chance of acceptance.”
--Talking animals, animals playing poker, a dog wearing a tuxedo floating down a space portal, bring it on. Werewolves? We’ll have to think about it.
Renard’s Menagerie
http://www.renardsmenagerie.com/
“Mermaids, werewolves, talking cats. Teddy-bear aliens and telepathic dragons.”
--The pillars of fiction right there folks.

Non-talking animals:
Cat tales
http://www.wildsidepress.com/
“Cat Tales is seeking fantasy and suspense stories involving cats. Cats must be portrayed in a positive light. No talking cats -- yes, this is a firm rule.”
--What about cats that do sign language, does that count?
Giant Creatures Anthology
http://www.permutedpress.com/
“Giant spiders, towering ants, train-sized gila monsters, praying mantises larger than 747s, and yes, even mutated leeches big enough to swallow you whole.”
--I was a little nervous until they included the mutated leeches.

Love and Sex:
Androids 2
http://www.androids2.com/
“Your story must be a "Sci-Fi" Romance. It must be written in the pulp-Fiction style of the 1920s to 1970s. For us "Sci-Fi" Romance might involve a sexy female Android who must be rescued by your hero. You could also write a passionate story involving those sexy girls from mars (you know the ones with three breasts). As long as it is a passionate love story involving human and other intergalactic being we will consider your story.”
--I believe this is where David Foster Wallace got his start.
Bethany’s Woodshed
http://www.abcdwebmasters.com/guidelinesspnk.html
“featuring sub female spanking fiction”
--Imagine if you got published here…
“Mom! Dad! Uncle Ted! Here’s a copy of the journal with my story in it. Let me know what you think.”

Umm…
Girls and Cars
http://www.geocities.com/silveramy77/girlsandcars.html
“Cars and gender.”
--My next literary journal will be strictly stories about cars with a gender.
Robots Beyond
http://www.permutedpress.com/
“Feel free to speculate on the role of robots in the Cthulhu Mythos, or how androids might interact with werewolves, vampires, or zombies”
--I already feel free to speculate on the role of robots, believe you me.
Legends of the Mountain State
http://woodlandpress.com/
“Stories MUST create or expand a legend/ghost tale from the state of West Virginia. We want stories about West Virginia legends/ghosts“.
--Damn it, where am I supposed to publish my ghost stories from the Sunshine State?
Tales of the Zombie War
http://www.talesofworldwarz.com/
“Zombie apocalypse.”
--Look, if you don’t have a story about the zombie apocalypse then you’re just not challenging yourself as a writer.
Women. Period.
http://www.spinsters-ink.com/
“Seeking well-crafted poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and essays celebrating, cursing, and exploring menstruation.”
--I’m not sure how one goes about exploring menstruation.
